Meet Mrs. Vossekuil
It’s amazing how quickly 14 years of teaching has gone by. As the saying goes, “Time flies, when you are having fun!” My goal each day is to help students strive to reach their potential not only in Math, but in all areas of their life. I hope that I can challenge and encourage my students and help them realize the huge amount of opportunities that are waiting for them
Teaching has allowed me to experience something new every day. It has taught me lessons beyond those that I have taught to my students. My daily motivation comes from the smiles I see in my students and the “lightbulbs” that shine at the most unexpected moments.
I have taught at Fruitport for all of my 14 years. I have taught Mathematics in 7th and 8th grade for all of those 13 years, and also taught 7th grade Language Arts for two years. I will moving in to 6th grade Math for the 2016-2017 school year and am ready for this new adventure!! I am our Mathematics Department Chair, a member of our School Improvement Team and Intervention Team, and a Formative Assessment Coach for our district. In addition to my work inside of the school, I also coach our Track and Cross Country teams at FMS.
I hold a Bachelors of Science in Education from Central Michigan University. I am certified in Elementary Education, Mathematics, and Language Arts. I also hold a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University. Being a coach allows me to spend time with my students outside of the classroom while also enjoying a hobby of my own in running. Besides for running, I enjoy spending time with my 3 children and husband. I also like traveling, movies, and getting together with my family and friends.
